We are seeking a Business Development Manager   to join this   innovative software solutions business in their busy Sales and Marketing team.  This team of skilled professionals is leading their sector in the production and development of internationally acclaimed software systems. The role is located on the beautiful Isle  of Wight and is easily commutable from the Southampton area. 

This award winning, international firm delivers bespoke and innovative software systems  to leading  businesses around the world including  major end users in the Hydrocarbons, Chemical, Power and Pharmaceutical industries,  this position therefore requires  an informed, analytical and strategic  approach to supporting company-wide    sales activity.

The successful applicant will be required to identify target markets and drive global sales activity within the company, in order to respond to technical and commercial queries regarding  the product portfolio.   The  Business Development Manager  will  be responsible for tracking   business development opportunities  and becoming a key point of contact between developers, sales forces and end-users. 


 This is an ideal role for an accomplished Sales Professional with a strong background in complex software solutions and the process industry. This is    a technical position requiring all the forward facing, interpersonal skills of a traditional sales role. You will be dealing directly with customers and users   to define sales strategies,   run product demonstrations  (both via digital communication and in person) and prepare detailed and engaging proposals  that are both technical and commercial,. You will also need to run sales training  to in-house teams internationally,  present papers at exhibition and   seminars   and create technical content for use in marketing.

  If you have a minimum of 3 years technical sales experience, a background in process automation, control and  instrumentation, manufacturing software, electrical engineering or systems  integration then  you will  have a distinct advantage.   We are also seeking the following skills; 

  • Experience of working with multi-national customers with a solid understanding of global markets 
  • Self-motivated with initiative and drive to be successful and achieve targets
  • The ability to interface at senior levels across both internal company members and external partners
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personality types and to work with minimum supervision. 
  • The role will involve international travel to company    offices and customer locations across the world, sometimes at short notice.   

This full time (37 hrs per week) post will be based day to day at offices on the Isle of Wight but will require regular international travel. Our client is also offering a  highly    competitive salary (linked to   skills and experience) plus  a generous bonus scheme, pension scheme, healthcare plan and 25 days annual leave per year plus Bank Holidays.
