The truth is, hiring managers rarely have much time, they want information at their fingertips, so a good cover letter is vital to get you that all important interview. I always request cover letters and those who comply make it to the top of my shortlists. Those who don't bother, have to work MUCH harder to get my attention. A busy employer / recruiter can view your lack of cover letter as a lack of interest, or an inability to follow instruction, in essence without a Cover Letter your first impression is blown. You have a great CV that you've worked hard to perfect, so don't ruin it with a lack of a cover letter!.
TIP: You don't need multiple versions of your CV if you tailor your cover letter to match each job you apply for. |
