Wyatt and Jack is an Island based company focused on the creation of high quality sustainable bags and accessories made from up-cycled beach deckchair canvas, retired bouncy castle vinyl PVC and broken inflatables. Established in 2010 this brand has been moving from strength to strength, and with the introduction of their hugely successful 'Inflatable Amnesty' they have achieved international acclaim, not only for their innovative approach to reducing waste, but also due to their appealing design aesthetics. Due to demand the team is now expanding and they are taking on a new Sewing Machinist & Retail Assistant to join their high street team in Ryde.
First and foremost we are looking for a Sewing Machinist with skills, ideally with experience using industrial sewing machines. Wyatt and Jack create one off designs from a wide variety of up-cycled materials, so we need an individual who can tack up a tote and create a clutch with confidence. Creativity is embraced and valued here, so the successful applicant will be have substantial input into design and over time will be encouraged to come up with new retail options to sell within the brand. This is a fast paced role and the successful applicant will need to be able to complete orders efficiently to the highest standards, in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
So you have the sewing skills, but have you got people skills too? This is a small team and that means everyone has to multitask to get the job done, therefore, while the role is focused on the manufacture of amazing products, you will also be front and centre in the retail team, working in-store to sell products and take orders from a wide variety of customers. Wyatt and Jack is known for being a beacon of positivity, with customers always expecting a smile along with fantastic service, so this role absolutely requires a forward facing, customer focused approach.
In return for your strong work ethic, creative skills and positive attitude, the Wyatt & Jack team will be offering a competitive hourly rate, with a guaranteed 16 hrs per week (which potentially can grow into a full time position over time if it suits the post holder). They are also offering regular flexible overtime, giving the successful applicant the freedom to work regular additional hours during busy periods. They are hoping that the successful applicant will grow with the business, taking on additional duties and having more input as they keep up with demand.
It is worth noting that weekend working will be an essential requirement with regular Sunday hours likely through the summer months.
